We Are the Champions

As soon as We Are the Champions hit the speakers, the crowd exploded in cheers, screaming at the top of their lungs to greet their hero. Phillip Phillips walked out to the stage with a huge grin slathered on his face. He had on the same red snakeskin tights he wore to defeat Luke Lethal on Showtime VI, but this time had a shiny gold championship belt buckled around his waist to complete the attire. Microphone in hand and belt around his waist, he walked down the ramp and slapped the outstretched hands of the crowd, eager to hear what he had to say. But he took his time, casually strolling to the ring until the steel steps were within his reach. He climbed up, one foot at a time, until he reached the ring apron where he walked to the middle and pushed down the top rope, allowing him to step over it easier. Once finally enclosed by the ropes of the squared circle, he walked to the center and closed his eyes, tilting his head back so, if his eyes were open, he'd be staring at the ceiling. He took a deep breath as he slowly lowered his head and opened his eyes, then raised the microphone to his lips.

On Friday, October 28th, at about four o'clock PM on the sixth episode of Showtime, I defeated Luke Lethal to become the second Sinister Wrestling Entertainment World Champion.

The crowd cheered, though Phillip's expression remained unseen.

Let's look back at what happened, for those of you that missed it.

He and all audience members turned to the titantron, where a clip was shown from Luke Lethal and Phillip Phillips' match at Showtime.




After a second glance at the victory, more deafening applause erupted from the crowd.

PHILLIP PHILLIPS
You see, Luke, this is why you shouldn't be so cocky. Because you know what? This would be the perfect time to completely humiliate you for being so sure about keeping your title. But I won't. Do you know why? Because I don't want to make the same mistake you and so many others have.

His forehead wrinkled, and he seemed more concentrated as he lowered the microphone and stared at a the stage. He took another breath, then raised the microphone and turned to the crowd.

You see, all this hard work, dedication, and determination finally paid off. I'm not one to say something then do something else. I'm a man that will live up to his words, and keep his promises. And that's exactly what I did when, on Friday, October 28th, at about four o'clock PM on the sixth episode of Showtime, I defeated Luke Lethal to become the second Sinister Wrestling Entertainment World Champion.

He dropped the microphone, then closed his eyes and looked up at the ceiling. He appeared to be doing some sort of meditation, breathing in and out, until finally, at blink-and-you'll-miss-it speed, he unbuckled the belt and raised it high in the air, grinning. He held the championship high above his head for all to see as the crowd cheered and the camera slowly faded to black...
